Approximately 2500 Philadelphians die each year as a result of tobacco use, accounting for 17% of deaths in the city. In Philadelphia, there are approximately 300,000 adult smokers and 1 in 2 of these smokers will die from smoking-related diseases. Furthermore, youth access to tobacco is also unacceptably high in the city and about 20% of young children are exposed to secondhand smoke in their homes. But tobacco use and its devastating consequences are preventable.
This contest provides students an opportunity to win $1000 for creating videos that raise awareness about tobacco control and policy in order to promote a smoke-free and healthy Philly!
