There is No Honour in Violence Young South Asian Women Launch Heartbeats: The IZZAT Project Comic Book

izaat As part of the international campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, six young South Asian women are unveiling their comic book, Heartbeats: The Izzat Project tomorrow in Toronto. The book shares their stories and challenges how “izzat” or “honour” has been used to rationalize violence against them.

A project of the Pomegranate Tree Group, and launched in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario Youth Council, the comic book is a love letter to the young women’s communities and “a bold declaration that their bodies belong to them, not to patriarchs, the media or governments.”
