45 of the week: Quartz “For Geromine”

Quartz FrontThis week’s find in exploring my epic pile of 45s is from a group called “Quartz.”

I can’t find much about them online other than that they were a “new age disco” trio from France that made a record in 1978, that golden synthesizer period of late disco and pre 80s new wave and dark wave music.

This 45 features a track called “For Geromine” that is a bizarre synth song that sounds like a forgotten track to the soundtrack of BladeRunner.

I can’t figure out what the cover is supposed to be–an innocent child on the far out planet the musicians imagined themselves on when they wrote this song?

If you know more about this band or piece of music history, please share! Give it a listen and share your thoughts:
