szeheadshotThe Basics

I learned to talk in Iran and to press the record button in the United States.

Over the past decade my work has focused on independent filmmaking, teaching media studies and production, and doing communications and marketing primarily for arts and cultural organizations. By day I work as the Program Director at the Leeway Foundation, a foundation that funds individual women and trans artists in the Philadelphia using art as a tool for social change. When I’m not there I’m making and curating films,  writing or spinning records. My artist statement gives a bit of perspective on my vision of my cultural production practice.

I love: to watch films, write, read, sew, eat, this handsome guy and his camera and the toddler we’re keeping alive together.

I’m dedicated to: my Vipassana meditation practice (15 years), Philadelphia (19 years), and supporting the work of emerging artists.
